Kumihimo is a fun and rewarding technique that allows you to create stunning weaved braids.
The most common braiding pattern for beginners to learn is the simple 8-thread rotating stitch with two steps and a turn. This produces a round braid, but you can achieve different patterns depending on how you arrange the strands at the beginning.
There are hundreds of patterns you can use from the simple 8-thread rotating stitch to ones with 400 steps!!!
Braids can be created round or flat depending on whether you use and rotating cross over pattern or a switch over pattern.
The Kumihimo Disk come in square and circle formats and are made from dense foam with slots in the edges of the foam at measured intervals.
