Description
Nightshift Shawl w/ Shannon
This class is for an intermediate knitter or confident beginner who is comfortable with knitting, purling, and increasing stitches and has made simple scarves, hats, etc.
You will have two weeks between each session to continue what you learned and knit to the next section in the pattern.
Materials:
- 6 colors of worsted weight yarn (150 yds each)
- Size US 8, 32” circular needle recommended (you are welcome to make a gauge swatch, but gauge is not critical for a shawl pattern)
- Scissors, tapestry needle, and row counter
All materials purchased for your class from Sew to Speak will receive a 15% discount
Skills to be learned: colorwork, I-cord edging, stitch work with slipped stitches, increasing stitches to form an asymmetrical triangle
Week 1 (2/11): Cast on, I-cord edging, increasing stitches. Complete set up and begin section 1 of pattern colorwork. (Homework to knit through section four utilizing the skills you learned in Week 1)
Week 2 (2/25): Section five, check in, questions, addressing any mistakes
Week 3 (3/10): I-Cord Bind off and finish shawl
Yarn Suggestions:
5 skeins Malabrigo Rios (different solids or multicolor or combination of solids and multicolors)
4 skeins of Lang Yarns Frida (240 yds each), two separate colorways, let the yarn do the color work for you!
6 skeins, different colors, Brooklyn Tweed Shelter (these are 140 yds each but we are feeling wild and bold!)
And/or any worsted weight yarn.
If your yarn is fewer than 150 yards per skein, you can simply adjust the # of skeins accordingly. Some suggestions include: Woolstok worsted, Rowan Cotton Cashmere, and Quince & Co Lark
