Kids Sewing: Drawstring Backpack w/Kathy

Your kiddo will have fun making this backpack that they will use all the time!  It’s large, has a hidden zippered pocket on the front, and is fully lined.  This makes the perfect activity bag.  Some sewing experience is required and they should know the basics of using a sewing machine. 

Prerequisite: Kids Sewing 101.

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate

Supplies: Included 

  • 1/2 yd quilting cotton (main fabric)
  • 1 fat quarter (accent fabric)
  • 1 yard quilting cotton (lining)
  • 1/3yd fusile fleece
  • 3.75 yd 1/4in cotton cording
  • 12in standard nylon zipper

Optional Notions: (These tools are great if you have them. The shoppe will have these available for your use during class)

  • Sewing Machine
  • Measuring tape
  • Pins
  • Scissors or rotary cutter
  • A fabric marker/chalk
  • Seam gauge
  • Seam ripper
