Scrappy Stitch Journal Embroidery Class w/Mary Lee
Writers use pencils and pens to jot drafts in their notebooks, and artists play with marks and colors in sketchbooks. In the Scrappy Stitch Journal Embroidery Class, you will learn basic embroidery stitches and experiment with colors and types/weights of thread and needles with each stitch, eventually learning to improvise several combinations of stitches and threads for the particular look you want to achieve. At the end of the class, you will stitch all of your pages together into a fabric book that tracks your stitch-learning and experimentation. This class is perfect for beginners, advanced beginners or those who want to learn to be more improvisational or playful in their stitching (ages 16 and up)
Session 1:
Basics about floss vs. perle cotton, splitting floss, threading a needle, tying a knot, ending with a knot or weaving in the end.
